Act V scene i sleepwalking

What is the mental state of Lady Macbeth during the sleepwalking scene? What does she carry? What does she do as she walks? What seems to bother her the most? What does the doctor fear will happen?

lady macbeths mental state during the sleepwalking is beeing non respondable. As she walks around she carries a candle with her. She also walks around talking about different things that the gentle womman refuses to tell. Lady Macbeth also tries to wash of imaginedy blood from her hands, but with no success.

This state she has is almost like a state of euphoria. She does not know, or does not want to admit what has happened since Macbeth's first murder. She is scared and frightened, which leads her to trying to deny everything she's influenced on him, and makes herself look innocent for herself.

Joe, I do not think "euphoria" is what Lady Macbeth is feeling right now. Euphoria, according to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, is, "a feeling of great happiness or well-being." Undoubtedly, Lady Macbeth is not euphoric. In common terms, Lady Macbeth is crazy. She is having hallucinations and is very restless. All the guilt has built up and the body has given in, no longer standing sleepless nights and horrible visions.

It is interesting to see how Shakespeare creates a scene where the real lady Macbeth is seen. It is as if he takes of the tough and strong, evil woman armour to portray the reality going on in her mind. This method is very helpfull because it allows us to see how the character thinks and feels creating a type of aside but in a different way.
