Malcolm tests Macduff's loyalty because he suspects that Macduff might have been ordered to betray him to Macbeth. Malcolm claims that his vices are worse than Macbeth's: he is lustful and envious, he says. Malcolm's words are convincing, "All the particulars of vice so grafted / That when they shall be opened, black Macbeth / Will seem as pure as snow, and the poor state / Esteem him as a lamb, being compared / with my confineless harms." (4, 3, 51-54) Macduff responds that no one could be as worse as Macbeth. Macduff shows his love for his country by lamenting how Duncan's son does not honor his father, the "sainted king" (4, 3, 109), and has lost hope because Malcolm would repeat the evil. Malcolm then believe Macduff, and confesses that he had been testing his loyalty and that nothing he had said before was true.

Malcolm reveals to us that he is wise. He likes to test people before beginning to trust them, especially at times where he must be cautious to try and kill the king (Macbeth). Malcolm tests Macduff to see how loyal he really is to the king, and realizes he is more loyal to the safety of his country than the king. Malcolm then tells him about the troops in England who are stationed to help him kill Macbeth. Macduff seems a little relieved. This proves that Malcolm is a lot stronger than he seems to be.

It is very simple yet very logical and smart to use the technique Malcolm used to test Macduff. In this part we can see that Malcolm is a mature person to govern. THis idea was not completely accepted since he fleas very quickle y after her father left, leaving the place alone. This had showed that he was kind of unexpererience, however, this revokes that idea.

Malcom shows his qualities of leadership by gathering troops in England to attack Macbeth, the man who killed his father. He tests Macduff, because he fist must see if whether he could trust him or not. What he did in order to test Macduff was to tell him that Malcom would not be a better king although they defeat Macbeth. He explains himself of being a man who spends the money for his pleasure, get woman and just create corruption to his county. Malcom then saw the loyalty of Macduff and believes that Macduff would be a better king then he would, therefore wants Macduff as a king for his country that his father ruled before.
