Why must Lady Macbeth return the bloody daggers to Duncan’s chambers? How do Macbeth and Lady Macbeth differ in their reactions to the murder? What does Macbeth wish at the end of this scene?
Macbeth wishes that Duncan could wake up with the knocking sounds he was hearing. The daggers had to be returned to Duncan's chamber so no suspicions could be raised towards Macbeth and so the murder could be blamed to the servants. Lady Macbeth kept calling Macbeth a coward because he started to freak out, and questioning what he has done, and for being scared of placing the daggers back.
Lady Macbeth returns to leave the soldier's daggers to Duncan's room because she did not want Macbeth or herself to be caught with them. It would be a little obvious who the murderer was if she had kept them. Lady Macbeth is not just smart, but she also has an incredible sense of ambition to help Macbeth become king. She calls him a coward and influences Macbeth to kill Duncan. Another fact about Lady Macbeth is that she is the median between the three weird sisters and Macbeth. Her influence allows Macbeth to be able to do all the things the three sisters predicted. We can characterize her as another "hallucination" specifically because she seems to have total control over what Macbeth will do and what he won't. Simply, Lady Macbeth puts the daggers back in Duncan's room because he cannot do it. We know who's the "alpha" person in this relationship.
When Lady Macbeth sees Macbeth all bloody and with the murder weapon, she chooses to act fast and smart, unlike Macbeth. She has to take the dagger and palce it somewhere else so that they would not be suspected. Lady Macbeth is important to MAcbeth because at this instance, Macbeth paniced, and Lady Macbeth had to clean it up.
